A small amount of sodium chloride is dissolved in the pool water, typically at a concentration of around 3,000 to 3,500 parts per million. That salt concentration is far below what would be detectable as a taste, roughly one-tenth the salinity of the ocean and similar to the salt content of a teardrop.
